SOCIAL SCIENCES AND MANAGEMENT LIBRARIAN, MIT Libraries (part-time, 50%), to shape and deliver programs of reference, instruction, outreach, and collection to MIT's social science and management communities; and serve as a liaison to an active Political Science Department with students, faculty, and researchers at the leading edge of research and education. Will select and advocate for research materials, services, and collections that serve the needs of the community in collaboration with appropriate groups, colleagues, and vendors; monitor and support the interdisciplinary activities of the community; create awareness of available services and collections within the community, maintain and build connections, and channel feedback from the community to the Libraries for the improvement and evolution of services; provide support for strategic scholarly publishing activities, recruit faculty-authored research materials, and promote repository-based services; and collaborate with colleagues in the social sciences and management community of practice.

REQUIREMENTS: an MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution or an advanced degree in library or information science; a background or at least one-year of experience in political science, economics, or management science; an entrepreneurial approach to delivering service to a research community, particularly with regard to reference, instruction, or outreach, but also in identifying opportunities for new services; and knowledge of, experience with, and/or capacity to provide services and collection development for a research community.
