GOP Official: Obama Is Going To Hell When He Dies

PRINCE WILLIAM, Va. (CBSDC) ? More than a week after President Barack Obama was re-elected for a second term, a GOP official in Virginia believes the president will go to hell when he dies.

Bob FitzSimmonds, chief deputy clerk of Prince William Circuit Court, wrote the comment on his Facebook wall on Wednesday. The Virginian-Pilot reports that the note has caused a stir among leadership on both sides of the aisle in Virginia.

?When Obama is 90 years old and he dies and goes to Hell, he is going to say ?This is all Bush?s fault,?? FitzSimmonds wrote.

FitzSimmonds, the GOP treasurer with the Virginia Republican Party?s State Central Committee, has insisted that the post was a joke.

?My Facebook post was not about Obama going to Hell,? FitzSimmonds told the Pilot. ?It was about his obsession with blame shifting and I don?t really see anything inappropriate about it.?

The Facebook post has already been condemned by the office of the state?s attorney general, who has supported FitzSimmonds throughout his political career and backed FitzSimmonds during his rise to treasurer. Virginia Democratic Party chairman Brian Moran has ordered for an apology and for the state?s GOP leadership to not support FitzSimmonds?s comments.

?Taking to Facebook to muse on the death of the President of the United States and whether or not he will go to hell is well below the standard of conduct Virginians set for their public officials and political leaders,? Moran said in a statement, according to the Pilot.

Obama defeated Mitt Romney in Virginia by more than 115,000 votes in last week?s election.
