Check The Recent Reports
There are strict regulations in place by governments across the world when it comes to the safety of cruise ships and these come in a variety of different forms:
- Government set guidelines prepared with the PSA (passenger shipping association);
- Guidelines set by the travel operaters;
- Specific rules that are developed for a particular ship;
- Environmental factors are covered by a report card that assesses cleanliness, repair, food preparation, water quality as pest management and a wide variety of other items.
The great thing about the majority of the above guidelines is that they are all available online if you are performing the right searches.

If you were thinking about booking a hotel that you had never heard of before then there is no way you would simply go ahead with the booking without first doing a bit of research (you would be slightly mad if you did this). It is pretty standard procedure to go out and check review sites for this kind of thing (avoid TripAdvisor if you can) to determine what real people thought about the hotel.

Going for a cruise company that you have never heard of before makes a lot of sense if you have never been on a cruise in the past right? Well yes, but if you have done a few searches for the company and cannot find any information online then you might want to rethink the company that you are choosing for your cruise. A good company will either have reviews sitting about in the normal places or have a website with a phone number attached to the site for quick contact.

As with every travel booking you just need to have your wits about you, if you don?t feel comfortable with the company you are booking through or have a gut feeling about an aspect of the cruise then don?t go for it. You will be surprised on how often a gut instinct is right.
