Take a break from studying for finals, and enjoy a free concert presented by the First Year String Chamber Orchestra and the Community Symphonic Orchestra on Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m.
The First Year String Chamber Orchestra will present Pavane by Faure, Sea Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, the Don Quixote Overture by Telemann, Chacony for String Orchestra by Purcell and the first movement of Haydn's "London" Symphony.??? Laura Hill conducts the ensemble.
The Symphonic Orchestra will perform Mozart's Overture from The Magic Flute, Haydn's Symphony No. 100, the Choral from Symphony No. 5 of Mendelssohn and the Pomp and Circumstance March No. 2 by Edward Elgar.?? This orchestra is under the direction of Aaron Wilburn.
The Community Symphonic Orchestra is an ensemble open to the entire OSU community and includes students, faculty, staff and alumni.? All orchestral instruments are welcome.? The orchestra meets all year and earns 1 credit hour per quarter for those enrolled in classes.? Generally, the Orchestra performs one concert in Autumn, Winter and Spring.
